Semantic characteristics of paremias with key word "water" (an attempt at comparative analysis within Russian and Czech)
Kipchatov, Mikhail ; Kedron, Katerina (advisor) ; Rajnochová, Natalie (referee)
The bachelor thesis describes semantic specifics of the Czech and Russian paremias which include "water" as a key word. The aim of the thesis is to discover similarities and differences among paremias which incorporate the "water" component formally. The main methods displayed in the following thesis are comparative and semantic analysis. In Part 1 the main group of paremias (proverbs and sayings) problematics is described, as well as their interaction with other types of fixed expressions (phrasemes, idioms, adages etc.). Part 2 contains two classifications one of which is based on semantic properties of the "water" component; the classification includes the most typical oppositions within which the component is realised in Czech and Russian. The second classification of paremias with key word "water" is founded on the theory of semantic fields (taxa).
Czech and Spanish Phraseology, key word: food
KRAJČOVIČOVÁ, Veronika
The aim of this Bachelor Thesis is to compare Czech and Spanish phraseology, focusing on the key word "food". The theoretical part deals with general characteristics of phraseology units, as well as ways of their classification and problems of translation. In the practical part, there is analyzed the sample of these units in the formal and semantic aspect. To each Spanish unit is matched an equivalent in Czech (when existing) and is determined the degree of translation equivalence. In the case that the meaning of the same unit is different in target language, the context of the occurrence of this unit is given as an example.
Proverbs, adages and sayings in different historical periods
ZELENKOVÁ, Lenka
The aim of this thesis is to approach and to outline the development of proverbs, idioms, and sayings in our territory, since their appearance in the translation of the Bible up to the present day, when they have been updated and modified. In the theoretical part we try to define the terminology on the basis of literature we have perused. The thesis also mentions the most important collectors of Czech proverbs (M. Červenka, J. Blahoslav, J. Dobrovský, F. L. Čelakovský, V. Flajšhans) and their paremiological works. The practical part presents the practical use of paremies. We have been working here with collected language material of journalistic and artistic functional texts. The thesis is supplemented by the results of the questionnaire investigation focused on the knowledge/ignorance, the understanding, and the use of these phrases in the present. In the end of this thesis there are additional attachments to some chapters (including synoptic tables with results of the survey, a demonstration of homework with phraseologisms, and the graphic representation of phraseologisms).
